Managing Program Level Risk

Project Control

The visibility of potential cost and schedule overruns and early warning of future risks are crucial to the health and success of any project. Project failure costs US companies in excess of $145 Billion per year, with cost overruns in the region of 200%, and schedule overruns of up to 300%.

Earned value management has been adopted as the project finance tool of choice for Reed PS. We use it to manage and measure the value output of our own delivery. We also deliver Consultancy services to organisations who would like to transition to the Earned Value methodology. It is a proven process that provides a benchmark for meticulous project planning and change management used in many Government, Defence and Private sectors.

EVM facilitates the comparison of how much work has actually been completed, against how much work was planned to be completed, and whether the work achieved has cost more or less than planned. This is achieved by integrating the Scope of Work, and the Budget into the Project schedule, to provide a Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB). Actual cost and Earned Value are recorded against set milestones in the baseline plan allowing accurate measurement of project progress in terms of actual cost against planned cost and physical/technical achievement, at any point in time.

Supplier Partner
